[SOLUTION] Game (Session) does not save.
So I just downloaded Hacknet yesterday to explore my hacking fantasies. Played for about an hour, SAVED (or tried to), and then closed it. Came back this morning, NOTHING. Classic new game/steam issue.
Figured it was something stupidit was.
Hacknet fails to create the "Accounts" folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Hacknet when creating a profile in game.
[SOLUTION]
1) Manually create a folder called "Accounts" in the Hacknet directory above.
2a) If you want your old save back, you may be able to find it at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[yoursteamid]\\remote. Drag/copy the XML file it contains to your new "Accounts" folder.
2b) If you are starting a new gamejust open the game, create a new account, and hit save at the top. Verify that an XML file was created in the "Accounts" folder called save[yourusername]
3) IMPORTANT - RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR
If all of that happened for you like it did for me, you should have a persistant game now.
