Title: Sweet screenwriting notebook

Very cool little handbook for helping you get that movie idea completely thought out before you write the screenplay. Its so cool I shelled out the $5 for the PDF. For more, you can get printed up copies already put together. Looks like theyll make it all available when the kickstarter is over (on about 3 weeks). Theyre already way over their goal.

FANTASTIC FIND!!!! I just backed it for a printed notebook and the pdf for $12+$5 shipping. Thanks jdv!
Also, thanks for introducing me to Film Riot! That video had a lot of things I want. Looking into Red Giants Universe update, now that they seem to have a month to month option.

Film Riots pretty good. Much of it is aimed at people who know very little about movie making, but every now and then they have a gem.
Ryan knows his shit and seems to be a good dude.

It may be do to some kickstarter provision
Or maybe theyre still tweaking it.
Looks like a perfect thing to keep next to the bed ifn an idea hits.

I like that its paper, not a fucking app.
Even if I used apps (which naturally I do not), paper is better for this sort of thing.

Downloaded the PDF and it aint great.
Three major problems - the first is biggest - it doesnt go together the way youd want it to after printing it. Some pages are full size, some half size and none of simply staples together after printing and in fact you can really only staple the whole mess together (and even then, you have to staple in the upper right corner, which sucks for the full size pages - completely opposite of a normal book).
That may be an even bigger problem for those who ordered pre-printed ones, as theyll likely one day simply want to print their own, only to find out its pretty much impossible to do based on the PDF only.
The 2nd is lack of anything other then the blank clock. For this kinda money (5 bucks for the PDF, a lot more for the printed version), youd expect at least one pre-made example of how to do it (they use RAIDERS in their video). Why not give us that for comparison (ie - you might disagree with how they chose their points, which would thereby help you figure out what you value). Even if they thought theyd get sued (which seems highly unlikely), they could just change the name to "famous adventure movie starring a guy with a whip", or if they were really paranoid, just use a famous public domain movie like NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD. At the very least, they ought to have an available sample to download, which they dont.
Third, theres also no way to script out a story arc for a multi-show series, trilogy, web series, or video games (an ever growing place to tell complex stories). Its pretty much just a circle and some blank lines. As it stands now, it seems completely lazy and bizarrely laid out. Insanely enough, they sent an email saying they made the PDF better then the original version. That seems nearly impossible.
Is it useless? No, it has its place (Ill be giving them out to the various writers in the group), but even $5 is way too much for this. Its, at best, a cent download. Realistically, it should be a free-bee on their site. Now Im guessing the printed version will be more user friendly (it frakin better be), but it still wont have pre-existing examples or a couple of separate gimmicks for series.
BOTTOM LINE: 2 out of 5 stars for the PDF

So my preprinted notebook arrived today. I can see why jdv had issues putting it together as it measures roughly 5 x7. In its printed form it looks great though and will hopefully get me writing soon.
Also included was a motivational poster? "Get Rich or Die Writin," A sticker for the company that made it, Plot Devices, and a How to use Storyclock Notebook. I dont see much use for the first two things, but eh, they are trying to get their name out there. I guess Im just glad it wasnt filled with glitter.
