I have seen several people with Yamaha THR10 confirming presets for C and X model work on their vanilla THR10 and I wonder if that still work with firmware version and on the THR10? People confirming the C/X presets worked was using firmware version on their amp. I have not seen anyone with vanilla THR10 say it does not work, only people with the THR10C model say it does not work. Can you guys with this amp shed some light on this? And by the way is there any hardware difference on model C and X compared to vanilla THR10?
Hejsan mungiga, Welcome to the Yamaha Forums. I have both the THR (vanilla) upgraded to the version firmware, and a THRC (standard, no firmware upgrades so far) In fact, so far, there's no firmware available for the THRC, THRX or THR-5A Both THR's can use the same computer and software, ONE at a time, sharing the same software, but NOT the libraries. A patch for my THR, WILL NOT work on my THRC and vise versa. There might be some computer wizzards out there that can run both amps simultaneously on the same computer, and share patches on different THR models, but so far I haven't found the way or the need. I don't know for sure if all THR (5 and 10) amps have EXAXTLY the same hardware inside, but I would not risk trying to install THR firmware to my THRC. There's no going back since the firmware/upgrades are only for the (vanilla) THR amps.

I wonder, if I make my own presets, can I make presets that sounds the same on Vanlilla and C version? The thing is, I want THR10 vanilla because it looks better and I want the diversity of the original presets, but I also want some of the presets with the nice sounds from the C version.
I wonder if it's possible to mimic all those sounds on the normal THR10 with home/custom made presets? My plan is to then buy THR10 and make my own presets to make it have some of the THR10C sounds. Or is the features to make custom presets different from each models and perhaps limited to fit that model? The 'vanilla' THR amp is the most versatile, the C and X models are more 'specialist'.
If you have the 'vanilla' amp, you can almost make the same sounds.
